The Human Rights Campaign (HRC) measures states throughout the nation on several topics. Municipalities, Corporations, Healthcare Facilities, US Representatives and Senators, they're each measured on numerous scales pertaining to LGBTQ+ Equality.
The Municipal Equality Index (MEI )rated 506 cities including the 50 state capitals, the 200 largest cities in the U.S., the five largest cities or municipalities in each state, the cities home to the state’s two largest public universities, 75 municipalities that have high proportions of same-sex couples and 98 cities selected by HRC and Equality Federation state group members and supporters. It assesses each city on 49 criteria covering citywide non-discrimination protections, policies for municipal employees, city services, law enforcement and the city’s leadership on LGBTQ equality.
Human Rights Campaign Foundation’s Corporate Equality Index(CEI) is the national benchmarking tool on corporate policies, practices and benefits pertinent to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer employees.
In its 13th year, the Healthcare Equality Index (HEI) is the national LGBTQ benchmarking tool that evaluates healthcare facilities' policies and practices related to the equity and inclusion of their LGBTQ patients, visitors and employees. The HEI 2020 evaluates more than 1,700 healthcare facilities nationwide.
Each year, they recognize the health care facilities that participate in the HEI for their dedication and commitment to LGBTQ inclusion. This year, especially, we extend our deepest gratitude to these facilities for their courageous fight against COVID-19 and their commitment to addressing racism and injustice.
This year, we are proud to announce that our community partner, Henry Ford Allegiance, has scored 100%, classifying them as an Equality Leader!
